September 2017 Newsletter

Hi LSClubbers

I usually try to have a witty intro to my LSC newsletters… but alas, this edition starts off on a sombre note.

One of our club’s stalwarts, Budge Stewart, sadly passed away earlier this evening (Sunday 3rd September). Budge was our club’s Chairperson from 1991-1992, and will forever be remembered for ready smile, his thunderous laugh, and his legendary jokes.

Newsletter July 2017

Hi LSClubbers

Welcome back to those who took some time off during the June/July school holidays to recharge your batteries.

In the Williamson abode, it’s been the “Battle of the TV Remote”, with a smorgasbord of sport on offer – Wimbledon, Super Rugby, International Cricket (I’m a big new fan of South Africa’s Ladies cricket team!), Tour de France, FINA Swimming.

June 2016 Newsletter

Hi LSClubbers

I’m going to make a rare exception to my usual epic “War & Peace” newsletter tribunals, and keep this one punchy and precise!

(And that’s a combination of me being a pit pressed for time, having just landed in London and waiting to catch my uber, and the fact that I’m doused with a cocktail of flu medication, so my creative juices are running a tad empty today!)

I promise to return to form with my next newsletter, because I know how much you all look forward to my 101-page monologues!!!  J

Annual Squash Awards

I am extremely proud and humbled to let you all know that Llandudno Sports Club picked up 6 awards at last night’s WP Squash Annual Awards Ceremony.

It was an glitzy evening much akin to the Oscars - the red carpet was rolled out at Pigalle, the ladies were dolled up in spunky evening dresses and the men were looking dapper and suave in formal collar and tie.

Tennis Court Lights Rules

Hi LSClubbers

It with great pride and pleasure that I can confirm that the project to install the floodlights on our lower tennis court has been completed.

Results from LSC Tennis Club Champs Finals Day

We finally got some “strawberries and cream” weather today to hold our 2012 LSC Tennis Club Champs Finals Day, and the action on court was just as spectacular as the stunning Llandudno views under clear blue skies and blazing hot sunshine.

Well done to all our finalists, and congrats to our Champions.

CUP Competition:

Michelle Dutton successfully defended her Ladies Singles title, defeating Tracy Morris 2-0.

Tennis

Welcome to the Tennis Section.

We have an active tennis section which is growing by leaps and bounds!!  Having recently upgraded all of our courts and installing lights on the lower courts, we have raised the level of our tennis from social to active.  As part of Western Province Tennis, we participate in the league.

Squash

Welcome to the squash section.

Our club has a thriving squash section with a large proportion of the members having joined with the intention of playing squash.  We actively participate in the Western Province Squash league with teams in the 3rd, 8th and 17th leagues as well as masters teams - so there is a place for everyone.
